This is me.
I’m an actuarial person-man-thing-time and I enjoy reading about horror fiction, economics, computers, cryptocurrency, poetry, history, etc. My favorite color is sky blue because of the sky blue Yoshi from Yoshi’s Island. But if you ask me I’ll probably say green.
I still wear jeans with holes but generally only listen to grunge maybe like 30 days out of the year. I enjoy eating kiwis with the skin on. I’ve memorized 4 of the steps to solving a Rubik’s cube but never bothered with the rest.
I believe knowledge should be shared freely and abundantly, but I also think the world’s probably going to catch on fire in 40 years and there’s nothing we can do about it. So it doesn’t make much sense that I’m wasting my time on a website. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Interests
Horror Fiction
I like cosmic horror but I feel like it’s become cliché. Things always have too many eyes or tentacles. An example of good cosmic horror is the movie Annihilation. I still really like Lovecraft but I think his non-Cthulhu related stories could stand on their own. I’d like to write my own cosmic horror neo-noir kind of like The Horror at Red Hook one day.
Computers
I started coding with Java but haven’t used it in a good while. I’m strongest with Python, VBA, and SQL since I use those when I’m pretending to be human. I’m currently learning Rust, Solidity, and Bitcoin.
Cryptocurrency
I don’t think current cryptocurrencies offer much that the dollar doesn’t. But increasingly, there’s less the dollar offers. I also don’t think Bitcoin’s currently functioning very well as “digital gold” due to low adoption. But there’s tons of potential and I’m interested in the technology of it. I think decentralized currency really is the first step towards lasting world peace.
Poetry
Frost, Eliot, Shakespeare, Dicksinson (I know, I know), Donne, Byron, Keats, Plath, Neruda, Auden, Ginsberg, Arnold. In that order, I think, but I’d need to think about it.
